The mission of the Department of English Literacy is to provide diverse education and learning opportunities through services, resources, and collaborations with organizations such as the Refugee Family Literacy program that support adults and the community in achieving their academic goals.

Required Components of Distance Enrollment

Confirmation of Student Eligibility

To enroll students, programs must be able to verify that the student is eligible to receive Adult Education & Family Literacy Act (AEFLA) services. As a reminder, WIOA Section 203(4) outlines who is an eligible AEFLA participant. Eligible individuals include:

 * Individuals who are at least 16 years old and are not enrolled or required to be enrolled in secondary school under State law; and who-

  • Are basic skills deficient; or
  • Do not have a secondary school diploma or its recognized equivalent, and have not achieved an equivalent level of education; or
  • Are English language learners (even if they have degrees in their native countries).

We have served more than 1,100 students per year, consisting of 16 different ethnicities, for the past 16 years.

Through our program, immigrants, refugees, members of the community, and ESL prospective students can take classes held in many of our convenient locations.

The English Morning classes will be from 9:30 AM – 12:30 PM;

The English Evening classes will be from 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM.
