Overview

CPACS Refugee Department seeks to promote self-sufficiency and equity for the immigrant and refugee community through the provision of comprehensive social services, capacity building, and advocacy.

Services include:

  • Providing instruction and assistance to immigrant and refugee families in accessing federal/state/local-funded programs (e.g., Food Stamps, Medicaid, WIC, energy assistance, low-income housing, childcare assistance) and community services

  • Assisting clients with information and referrals based on client’s needs

  • Assistance in application completion and follow-up services

  • Relationship-building with immigrant and refugee networks and community members through outreach activities

Employment

This program tries to provide all the necessary support and preparation to ensure employment for refugees, including job search coaching, resume preparation and assistance during onboarding.

Social Adjustment

This program helps refugees integrate into their new lives in the U.S. and encourages self-reliance. Components in this program include Home Management and Life Skills workshops, emergency crisis intervention and health services.

Information Referral

Domestic Violence Prevention

This program provides the refugee community with workshops on domestic violence prevention by focusing on both prevention and intervention. The workshops comprise of Community Education Sessions on Family Violence, and Support Group Sessions for men and women

Youth

This program provides After School Programs, Youth Leadership Programs, homework assistance, tutoring, community service projects to the refugee youth.

Immigration

Providing the refugee community with immigration services including applications and/or renewals for permanent residence, naturalization, employment authorization, travel documents and other related services.

Services to Older Refugees

The newest addition to the refugee department, this program provides services to all refugee seniors (who are not citizens) connecting them to public benefits, social services, health and wellness classes and other available senior services.
